After a successful concert premiere at 54below in NYC, The Women in Theatre Project is coming to San Francisco's Feinstein’s at the Nikko on May 24th!
Part love letter, part song cycle, part musical documentary, The Women in Theatre Project celebrates the craft of theatre making, and the women behind the art form. This show explores themes of creativity, joy, grief, inspiration, and the trials and tribulations of the artistic process.
Inspired by interviews with notable women in theatre including: Daryl Roth, Jennifer Ashley Tepper, Mimi Lien, Ilana Levine, Earon Nealey, Lauren Gunderson, Dawn Chiang and Erin Merritt.
With music and lyrics by Jen Coogan, direction by Susan Boulanger, and music direction by Jessica Igarashi.
We are seeking talented performers to fill the following roles:
Dawn Chiang- 40s-50s, Asian, mezzo/alto, lighting designer, scientific, serious but with underlying humor.
Earon Nealey- 30s, Black, mezzo, makeup and wig designer, inquisitive, effervescent
Daryl Roth- 40s-50s, White, producer, soprano, motherly, loving
Mimi Lien- 20's-30s, Asian, set designer, analytical, hopeful
Ilana Levine- 30s-50s, White, actress/podcaster, alto/mezzo, quirky, friendly
We will have two short rehearsals in the evenings before the show, and a soundcheck before the show.
$100 stipend
